YMCA Street Feeding- Day 3

Today was my second time volunteering at YMCA. I did the same thing as the last time, helping to prepare and serve the food, but I had new experiences which led to more observations. I sang a song! This was something new for me, as I am normally not comfortable singing in front of others. However, as I was serving the food, I was suddenly asked by the music team whether I wanted to sing a song. I think they were running out of songs to sing, as I was pressured into singing a song. I was panicking, and the only song that I could remember clearly was Jesus Loves Me, as I recently sang that. Even though it was a Sunday School song, and I thought that I would be laughed at for singing such a simple song, it was surprisingly well received. I could see smiles on the street people's faces, and some of them were even singing along. I could see that all of them enjoyed it. Sadly, I could not think of any other songs once I was done, so I got back to serving the food. This experience

YMCA Street Feeding

I started my community service wor k today. In order to pass CAT,  I need to finish 20 hours of community service, and write a journal about it. For community service, I chose to serve  at  the  YMCA  street feeding, run by Samaritan Ministries.   T his street feeding is  supported   by  several  groups . There is Trinity Methodist C hurch, who handles the funds and supplies volunteers.  Samaritan Ministries was started by this church as well.  There is also Kenosis Home, who handles the cooking of the food and rehabilitating anyone who wants to stop living on the streets. Lastly, there is YMCA, who supplies the premises.    Samaritan Ministries started street feeding 11 years ago, and it has grown from strength to strength. The ministry has committed volunteers,  partners ,  and received timely donations .  Despite the growing number of  people  on the streets  who need to be fed, it always had the resources to accommodate the growing number of people.    Even thou

Sunday, Celebration and Preparation

Sunday is a day of rest. It is also a day of dreading the start of another week. Another crazy, hectic week. Today started out well. I woke up at 7:30am, and was not able to go back to sleep. As I didn't have to start getting ready for another hour or so, I spent the time in bed, watching Netflix. It was fun, watching Netflix while snuggling in bed. At 10:10am, my sister and I arrived at church after a 20 minute walk. We talked to some of our friends before service started at 10:30am with a worship session. We worshipped God, prayed, inducted new church members and church elders. Today's sermon was about how the Gospel gives us spiritual fullness. The speaker spoke about how we need to depend on the Gospel, remember the Gospel and enjoy the gospel. By doing these, we gradually become thankful for the Gospel and are sanctified because of it. Sunday Service ended at 12pm, and I was happy. The three of us, my mummy, sister and I, immediately left church. We didn't even

Malaysian Studies

It's currently 11:22pm. It's late, and I need to finish this post so that I can go to bed. Today has been tiring. Normally, Saturday would be an easy day. It would be a day spent on catching up on my work from college. However, I had to go to college. I had extra classes for, out of all of my subjects, Malaysian Studies, which is basically Malaysian History. It's one of the subjects that I have to pass, which is stressful for me. Classes started at 9am, and ended at 3pm, with a lunch break. Surprisingly, it wasn't too boring. We studied the Portuguese Colonisation of Malacca, the British Colonisation of Penang and Singapore and the reasons why they did so. It was interesting to learn, but the malay names were a bit confusing for me. I was also cold and sneezed a lot, which I think is due to Mummy passing her flu germs to me. This did not help me to focus on the lesson. Our lecturer also has the tendency to suddenly use malay phrases when she's teaching. Luck

CF Recruitment Drive

Today was good. Mummy and I went to Mid Valley, as we had some errands to run. The most important one was to take passport sized photos of me to submit for college. Something that we didn't do earlier due to my conditional offer. We took the photos, had breakfast at Kim Gary and bought some things. Mummy and I chatted more about our feelings towards my results and our homeschooling journey. It is amazing, thinking about how much God has blessed us. When I'm less tired I will probably blog about this more, as it is something that I want to blog about. At 11:30am, I was dropped off at college. I settled the photos, got my student ID and added some things in my locker. At 12pm, I attended CF, which was good. For this semester, CF's theme is "Belong".That's why today's talks so relevant. It was even by one of the lecturers, who spoke about how all of us belong to teh body of Christ. We should never think that some of us are better, while others are not

The Lie That Led To An Awkward Situation

Today has been good, but tiring. I had six hours of intensive classes today, so my brain is tired. However, I still have to go through today's lessons, and write up some notes. I do plan to sleep early, since I only have Christian Fellowship tomorrow. Back to today. Last night, mummy helped me to print out my results, which daddy will help me hand it in today. With my provisional offer being a "special case", we thought it best to hand in my results as soon as possible. To be honest, I was glad that daddy was handling it for me. I was nervous at the thought of handling my results and thanking the lecturer who helped me get the provisional offer. So, I attended chapel at 7:30am, and class at 8. Classes were challenging today, with more formulas to learn and questions to try. My lecturer even set a time limit for us while we attempted the questions! That's why I was and still am tired. At 10:30am, we got a short 10 minutes break. That was when I saw the message fr
