YMCA Street Feeding

I started my community service wor k today. In order to pass CAT,  I need to finish 20 hours of community service, and write a journal about it. For community service, I chose to serve  at  the  YMCA  street feeding, run by Samaritan Ministries.   T his street feeding is  supported   by  several  groups . There is Trinity Methodist C hurch, who handles the funds and supplies volunteers.  Samaritan Ministries was started by this church as well.  There is also Kenosis Home, who handles the cooking of the food and rehabilitating anyone who wants to stop living on the streets. Lastly, there is YMCA, who supplies the premises.    Samaritan Ministries started street feeding 11 years ago, and it has grown from strength to strength. The ministry has committed volunteers,  partners ,  and received timely donations .  Despite the growing number of  people  on the streets  who need to be fed, it always had the resources to accommodate the growing number of people.    Even thou

Sunday, Celebration and Preparation

Image
Sunday is a day of rest. It is also a day of dreading the start of another week. Another crazy, hectic week. Today started out well. I woke up at 7:30am, and was not able to go back to sleep. As I didn't have to start getting ready for another hour or so, I spent the time in bed, watching Netflix. It was fun, watching Netflix while snuggling in bed. At 10:10am, my sister and I arrived at church after a 20 minute walk. We talked to some of our friends before service started at 10:30am with a worship session. We worshipped God, prayed, inducted new church members and church elders. Today's sermon was about how the Gospel gives us spiritual fullness. The speaker spoke about how we need to depend on the Gospel, remember the Gospel and enjoy the gospel. By doing these, we gradually become thankful for the Gospel and are sanctified because of it. Sunday Service ended at 12pm, and I was happy. The three of us, my mummy, sister and I, immediately left church. We didn't even

Malaysian Studies

Image
It's currently 11:22pm. It's late, and I need to finish this post so that I can go to bed. Today has been tiring. Normally, Saturday would be an easy day. It would be a day spent on catching up on my work from college. However, I had to go to college. I had extra classes for, out of all of my subjects, Malaysian Studies, which is basically Malaysian History. It's one of the subjects that I have to pass, which is stressful for me. Classes started at 9am, and ended at 3pm, with a lunch break. Surprisingly, it wasn't too boring. We studied the Portuguese Colonisation of Malacca, the British Colonisation of Penang and Singapore and the reasons why they did so. It was interesting to learn, but the malay names were a bit confusing for me. I was also cold and sneezed a lot, which I think is due to Mummy passing her flu germs to me. This did not help me to focus on the lesson. Our lecturer also has the tendency to suddenly use malay phrases when she's teaching. Luck

CF Recruitment Drive

Today was good. Mummy and I went to Mid Valley, as we had some errands to run. The most important one was to take passport sized photos of me to submit for college. Something that we didn't do earlier due to my conditional offer. We took the photos, had breakfast at Kim Gary and bought some things. Mummy and I chatted more about our feelings towards my results and our homeschooling journey. It is amazing, thinking about how much God has blessed us. When I'm less tired I will probably blog about this more, as it is something that I want to blog about. At 11:30am, I was dropped off at college. I settled the photos, got my student ID and added some things in my locker. At 12pm, I attended CF, which was good. For this semester, CF's theme is "Belong".That's why today's talks so relevant. It was even by one of the lecturers, who spoke about how all of us belong to teh body of Christ. We should never think that some of us are better, while others are not

The Lie That Led To An Awkward Situation

Today has been good, but tiring. I had six hours of intensive classes today, so my brain is tired. However, I still have to go through today's lessons, and write up some notes. I do plan to sleep early, since I only have Christian Fellowship tomorrow. Back to today. Last night, mummy helped me to print out my results, which daddy will help me hand it in today. With my provisional offer being a "special case", we thought it best to hand in my results as soon as possible. To be honest, I was glad that daddy was handling it for me. I was nervous at the thought of handling my results and thanking the lecturer who helped me get the provisional offer. So, I attended chapel at 7:30am, and class at 8. Classes were challenging today, with more formulas to learn and questions to try. My lecturer even set a time limit for us while we attempted the questions! That's why I was and still am tired. At 10:30am, we got a short 10 minutes break. That was when I saw the message fr

Results Day

Image
I am typing this now, at 9:39pm, still in shock about today's events. It still feels so unreal! Today started with the usual 6am wake up and rush session. Chapel at 7:30am, class at 8am. The usual, nothing exciting. My lunch period started from 1pm, which was when I started feeling nervous. One hour left until the news. One hour left until my results are posted. I had lunch alone in Cafeteria B, and the packed lunch was comforting. I packed Chopped Eggs and Mushroom filling with bread, which wasn't as yummy as the Egg and Tuna filling. Even though Cafeteria B is less crowded than Cafeteria A, I still felt like the cafeteria was too crowded. The number of people there was giving me a headache. That's why I went to the library, thinking that I would have some peace. I thought that I could quietly do some work to pass the time quicker. I thought wrong. I was soon joined by a classmate, who sat at my table, and read her own books. Even though she wasn't talking

Bony Fish and Homework

Another day with more work. Today started early, at 6am. I jumped up, and quickly got ready for college. Mummy and I were looking forward to a piping hot bowl of IndoMee, but Daddy ruined our plans. He was already making the Baked Egg Cup, which is normally tasty, but didn't taste as good today. I had to quickly shove it in my mouth before leaving home. I was dropped off at 7:20am, leaving me 10 minutes to walk to chapel. Even though I was reluctant to attend chapel at first, I have to agree it's good for me. It's a good way to start the day. Judges 5, the bible passage we read through today was all about how God helps us through trials in life. I left chapel early, as I had classes at 8am. After 4 hours of class, it was finally time for lunch. I was starving by then! I'm pretty sure I would have felt light-headed if I didn't eat some biscuits earlier. My lunch was packed from home: bread, sliced cheese, sliced bananas and egg filling. I also had a pack of b

Another Week

Image
Today was the start of my second week at college. I was glad that I only had to be at college at 10:30am. My classes started at 12, but due to a group project meeting, I had to be there earlier. That's why I only woke up at 6:30, and got out of bed at 7:30. I had IndoMee for breakfast, which I ate while packing my lunch. Lunch was a homemade sandwich, made out of Daddy's bread and Erica's Mashed Egg and Tuna Filling. Here's a picture. It was yummy! At 10:30am, I reached college, thanks to Daddy. Mummy can't send or pick me up from college anymore, since she just started a new job. As I was early, I read an article on my phone while waiting for my group members. The meeting started at 11am, and only lasted for 20 minutes, since there wasn't much to talk about. I spent the last 40 minutes of my free time going for All Club's Day. It is a day where all of the active clubs at college set up a booth and try to recruit new members. There is a wide va

Benny

Image
Today, I'm going to blog about Benny, my dog. Here'a a picture! I'm not exactly sure how old he is, but I think he is roughly 4 years old. We brought him back home with us from Ipoh, during one of our road trips. He was so cute as a puppy! He was furry and small. The first few days were exciting for us. There were things that we had to do to help him get used to a new environment. We would walk him around our home, and play with him. Those were the fun parts. The not so fun part? We had to potty train him. This meant there were hourly visits to his "toilet" (a tray in the toilet), where we had to try our best to get him to pee. It was not fun. We could spend ten minutes saying the same thing over and over again: Benny pee! It was frustrating, as we couldn't seem to potty train him. This made it even more frustrating when we had to clean up his "accidents" around the house. Benny had to sleep in a cage, as he was still too young to sleep w

The Sweet Saturday

Image
At last, the week is over. I am so glad that it was finally the weekend. I stayed up late last night, but managed to wake up at 8am. I was highly motivated by the fact that it was my turn to vacuum the floor, and my parents weren't home. This means it was the perfect time for me to vacuum the floor. One hour later, I was having coffee and biscuits for breakfast. My sister and I also discussed some bible verses. Once that was done, I started my research for my Malaysian Studies project. For the assignment, my group of four have to write an essay about the formation of the local government in Malaysia. We have to write about its history, the types of local governments and the duties of the local governments. As I am the leader on this project, it is a new experience for me. That's why I have to start researching. It would be embarrassing if I didn't get any research done, while my teammates did their research. However, I haven't done a lot of research, I'm too

Christian Fellowship

Image
Today is Friday. I had no classes today, but I still went to college anyway. Mummy wanted me to attend my college's Christian Fellowship (CF), as it will help me to stay connected to God. I arrived at college at 10:30am, as I wanted to go to the library. I needed to use several books at the library, as they contained practice questions. I didn't do many questions, I was too busy looking through the available textbooks at the library. An outside view of the library. At 12pm, I went to the auditorium for Christian Fellowship. As Christian Fellowship is considered an extra-curricular activity, we have to fill out an attendance form online. That way, at the end of the semester, our attendance will be noted on our extra-curricular cards. At 12:10pm, CF started. It started with a worship session, which was nice. Then, an offering bag was passed around. Once that was done, we played a game. The game was to help everyone warm up to one another, as there were new students

CAT Party

Image
Today was another day of college. I had classes in the morning from 8am till 12 pm, which was something new for me. I'm used to studying at my own pace, and I like to take breaks every hour. I'm also not used to studying so much content in a day. We finished one whole chapter in 2 hours today. It's a good thing that we were learning Chapter 1, so it's not too difficult yet. I'm also glad that daddy can still help me. Since he's an ACCA holder, he is more than qualified to help me with my CAT subjects. After class, I had a bun before going to the library to copy some notes. Once again, several of my classmates left campus for lunch, and I'm glad that they didn't invite me. I enjoyed an hour and a half of peace, before one of my classmates joined me. At 2pm, I went to one of the classrooms, which was filled with people. The CAT seniors were throwing my class a welcoming party. It was interesting, getting to know the 29 seniors. Most of my classm

Temptations

Image
After college today, my mummy, sister and I had a chat. We talked about how am I settling into college, how was my day and how were my classes like. Then, we talked about something interesting for me. During lunch today, some of my classmates invited me to join them for lunch at a nearby shopping centre. This will require us to leave campus, which is allowed. However, I had books to buy and other things to do, so I turned down the offer. My mummy and sister told me that I should never join them on these kind of outings. Once I start, I may start having bad habits, such as skipping class or not studying hard. Then, I will fail my exams or not get good results, resulting in a waste of a year. They say that I should not put myself in temptation. Mummy even let me use her as an excuse. This means I can just tell my classmates my mother does not let me leave campus, and she is strict about this rule. It sounds like as if my mummy and sister are trying to be controlling, not lett

Orientation Part 2

Image
Today was the second day of my college's Orientation Programme. Yesterday was a general briefing about the college. Today was a briefing about our specific programmes. For CAT students, our briefing started at 9am, but most of us arrived at college at 8am, myself included. Thus, we were left with an hour of free time. During the briefing, I got to meet my class mates. There are 14 of us in the programme, but one student is overseas and will join us later. So, there are currently 13 of us, 4 guys and 9 girls. All of my classmates joined the CAT programme because they want to become accountants. They had various reasons for this, ranging from "I love money." to "I want to follow in my mother/father's footsteps.". It was interesting, listening to them introduce themselves. Our morning lectures were mostly about CAT expectations. We learned about things like how to pass CAT, our subjects for CAT and our textbooks. We also learned about how we can progres
