Malaysian Studies

It's currently 11:22pm. It's late, and I need to finish this post so that I can go to bed.

Today has been tiring. Normally, Saturday would be an easy day. It would be a day spent on catching up on my work from college. However, I had to go to college.

I had extra classes for, out of all of my subjects, Malaysian Studies, which is basically Malaysian History. It's one of the subjects that I have to pass, which is stressful for me.

Classes started at 9am, and ended at 3pm, with a lunch break. Surprisingly, it wasn't too boring. We studied the Portuguese Colonisation of Malacca, the British Colonisation of Penang and Singapore and the reasons why they did so. It was interesting to learn, but the malay names were a bit confusing for me. I was also cold and sneezed a lot, which I think is due to Mummy passing her flu germs to me. This did not help me to focus on the lesson.

Our lecturer also has the tendency to suddenly use malay phrases when she's teaching. Luckily, the textbook she printed for us contains most of the information that I need. I hope that our exams won't be in malay, I think I might fail if it is.

I was picked up by my parents at 3:10pm, and we got home by 3:30pm. I was feeling sick, which was why Mummy sent me off to take a nap. After a good nap, I felt rested and ready to go.

At 6:30pm, I arrived at the apartment where TRUE, a youth group meeting, was held. There, I spent two hours socialising and discussing questions relating to God. It was fun and relaxing.

Once I got home, I took a shower, and cleared out my shelf of old IGCSE books. I threw away old notes, packed up books to give away and cleaned the shelf to keep my new college books. It was good to clean out my things: I felt productive and ready to study hard for my CAT papers.

CAT is a stressful, packed and demanding course. So far, I have learnt a lot, and I'm sure I will continue to do so. This year will be a time where I will learn organisational skills and how to prioritise my studies.

For example: I learned today that I can ask for help. My mummy and sister will help me with my Malaysian Studies research and help me to prepare a system for my CAT subject notes. Mummy reminded me of what I have learned about independence:

Independence is not trying to do everything in life by yourself, whether it's possible or not.  It's knowing when to ask for help.

My CAT notes.
